When I heard her first cry in the labour room,
My eyes were filled with tears of joy,
When I held her in my arms the pain of delivery disappeared,
When she opened her eyes for the first time,
I was overwhelmed with cheer and the glow on my skin reappeared,
Each morning when I look at her smile,
My whole existence becomes worthwhile,
As each day passes and I see her grow,
I learn about my inner strengths which I didn't even know,
Her little fingers hold my hand so tight,
I cannot imagine keeping her out of my sight,
Such is the joy of being her mother,
That each day is a discovery of a new world that we create together,
The pain of delivering a child and the lessons we learn when we become a parent,
Are all worth it when you see the child that is your own creation,
The joy that my child gave me when I became her mother,
Has taught me to be grateful and thankful to my own mother.
