102 Not Out (4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) Movie Review

Umesh Shukla’s latest film as a director is a completely refresheshing and entertaining film. 102 Not Out has a short star cast but each actor plays his part with great skill. The story revolves around Dattatraya Vakharia (played by Amitabh Bachchan) who is 102 years old and his son 75 year old son Babulal Vakharia (Rishi Kapoor). Dhiru (played by Jimit Trivedi) works in a pharmaceutical shop and often visits the Vakharia house to deliver medicines. The film focusses on these three characters for most part.

The 102 year old Dattatraya decides to send his son Babulal to an old-age home because he believes that he can break the record of the longest living human on earth only if he is surrounded by lively people. Babulal on the other hand is not only physically old but also mentally old. He prefers to follow a daily routine and lives a boring life compared to his father Dattatraya. Dattatraya asks Babulal to fulfill a few of his conditions/bets if he wants to stay in the house. The story takes the audience through the pain that parents go through when their children abandon them. It shows the audience the loneliness that one goes through as they age. This movie also shows the audience that one must never lose their spirit of living till they are alive.

The movie has a simple yet unique storytelling style. Rishi Kapoor’s performance is outstanding and Amitabh Bachchan is great as always. Jimit Trivedi plays a great part as a supporting actor. The movie has several emotional moments and it touches your heart. This movie is definitely a must watch for Rishi Kapoor’s fans. He is the star in this film and steals all your attention. Amitabh Bachchan plays his charater beautifully too but the show-stealer is Rishi Kapoor.

The director has done a very good job and each character plays their part well. There is no downside to the film. The script and the dialogues are well written. There are no irrelevant scenes in this movie.

Overall, it is one of the best films of the year 2018 and I do recommend watching this movie for the award-winning performance of Rishi Kapoor. This movie will remind the audience that one must never stop living their life fully and one must enjoy each moment of their life. After all, age is just a number.
